The flat, situated on the first floor of the North Wing of this charming Victorian mansion house with independent ground floor access, sleeps 4/5 with the option of a further double room within the body of the house (by arrangement). Standing in secluded wooded grounds with views to the west across the Angus countryside, Idvies House is ideally located in the heart of Angus for all types of holidays: from touring or sporting to just plain relaxing.

The Angus towns of Forfar(an aincient capital of Scotland), Kirriemuir (Birth-place & home-town of J.M Barrie), Arbroath (Where the declaration of 1320 was made), Brechin (A cathedral City) Carnoustie (With the famous championship links course) and Montrose (a charmingly attractive town with great history), each with something different to offer, are all within 30 minutes drive, as is Dundee 'The City of Discovery'. Perth (with Scone Palace nearby) is under an hour's drive. The village of Letham, which has two pubs, a bakery and the well stocked post office/ licensed corner shop is 1½ miles away from Idvies.

Angus and Dundee have so much to offer. The glens, a wonderful coastline with spectacular beaches, many excellent golf courses - including Carnoustie and (if you cheat a little and happen to get filtered onto the Tay Bridge by mistake) St Andrews is only 20 minutes the other side of the river! There is fishing, shooting, walking and outdoor activities galore. Visitor attractions include: Glamis Castle, seat of the Earls of Strathmore & Kinghorne - the childhood home of HM the late Queen Mother, (Formerly Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon of Glamis). Scott's ship Discovery and an endless list of others.

holiday cottage AngusBarty’s Flat accommodation is equipped to a high standard and comprises:

Sitting room: with views over the gardens this spacious room with marble fireplace has comfortable leather 3 piece suite, wide screen TV/Video/DVD, and desk.

Two bedrooms: One with four poster bed & en-suite bathroom (bath with shower), wash hand basin & toilet), dressing table & hair dryer and one twin bedded with desk/dressing table. Each with colour TV, trouser press, tea/coffee making facilities, clock radio, large wardrobe with drawers.

Bathroom: Bath with overhead shower, wash hand basin and WC.

Dining room: Dining table & 6 chairs with supplementary table, side table/desk; table mats & table linen. This room can be set up as a further single bedded room.

Kitchen: The well-equipped galley kitchen has Dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing holiday cottage Forfarmachine, ironing board/iron, full set of high quality pans, kitchen utensils and picnic basket (very useful as this is ideal countryside for picnics!).

A cot and high chair are also available and children are made very welcome.

A set of garden furniture is available for guests' use, situated on the expansive lawn (which the owners share with their neighbours) overlooking the Strathmore Valley.

Directions:
From the South: From Dundee take A90 north in the direction of Aberdeen and Forfar. Leave the A90 at the exit for Forfar and follow the A 932 into the town. From Forfar take the B9128, signposted to Carnoustie, in a south-easterly direction. Follow the B9128 through the village of Kingsmuir and 2 miles from Forfar you will reach a junction where the main road continues on to Carnoustie round a sharp right hand bend and an unclassified road goes off to the left signed Letham and Arbroath. Take the road for Letham and Arbroath. Ignoring further signs to Letham, follow this road for 11/2 miles as far as it goes to a T junction in the village of Bowriefauld. Turn left signposted Arbroath. Follow the road out of the village for approx another half mile and, after passing a turning to Letham off to the left, you will come to the large stone gates of Idvies House also on your left. As you approach holiday cottage Strathmorethe main house there is a small parking area on the left of the driveway opposite a pathway leading up to a green door. This is the external access to Barty's Flat.

From the North: From Aberdeen take A90 south in the direction of Perth/Dundee and Forfar. Leave A90 at Forfar exit and follow directions from Forfar as above.

What's included:
All bed linen, towels, electricity and heating. Basic cleaning materials (washing up liquid, toilet rolls, washing powder etc) and basic condiments, tea, coffee, sugar etc. Other items can be provided  by prior arrangement.

Cost and availability.
The holiday accommodation is rented out year round. Rental periods are generally Saturday to Saturday (£350 per week) but short breaks with a minimum of 3 nights (£165) are available by arrangement.
Checking in and checking out times are by prior arrangement.

Extra Double en-suite room within the house (situated just across the hall from the flat) - availability and price by arrangement on request.

Until recently the resident owners, ran Idvies House as a Country House Hotel - they now offer a meal service served in their own dining room by prior arrangement.
